This is a great list! I love TAL, too, and can recommend the bubble skirt (maybe a nice addition to your list?). I haven’t made the oversized shirt but it’s on my wishlist. I love grainline archer for a fitted button down and closet core Jenna for an oversized shirt. But the proportions of the TAL shirt are tempting me! And I hadn’t seen the Elsa dress; excited to add it to my wishlist. My absolutely favorite top/dress is the Anna Allen Anthea and the Elsa sleeves look very similar. Yay for spring makes!

Thank you for sharing other great pattern suggestions, the Jenna shirt almost made it on my list.

The bubble skirt wasn’t really a style that interested me until I saw someone styling a similar one online, and I thought it actually looked really pretty. Then I remembered that TAL has a pattern for it, so maybe I’ll make one in the future. You can never go wrong with their patterns.

Thank you for this inspirering post! I love the idea of making my own wardrobe and it is great to get tips about good patterns. Where do you buy fabrics?

Happy you enjoyed it! It really is possible to slowly build a wardrobe filled with self-made clothing items. To reduce the costs of sewing, I try to thrift fabrics as much as possible. I’ve found beautiful linen and cotton in thrift stores for reasonable prices. I also try to shop locally, there are a few fabric shops in my area that exclusively sell deadstock fabrics.

Got so inspired that I started knitting a vest today. I always look out for fabrics for my artwork, but I’ll keep in mind looking for bigger pieces, too.

That's so great ! Whether it's sewing or knitting, I feel like making your own clothes is one of the most rewarding hobbies. Hope you're having fun making your vest.
